Mr. Kunz displays the criteria of a FIRST Mentor every day. Currently an engineering teacher at POBJFKHS, Mr. Kunz is a vital mentor for the POBots FIRST Robotics Team. Born and raised on Long Island, Mr. Kunz received his undergrad education at SUNY Oswego and his graduate degree from SUNY Stony Brook. Mr. Kunz has real world experience having owned an automotive tool business for 16 years. He also has garnered experience from his 20 years of teaching. As a mentor Mr. Kunz is the" go to guy" for the fabrication of the robot. He is there to answer any questions and provide instruction on how to do tasks. Mr. Kunz also displays incredible foresight, questioning team members about every aspect of their design to make sure they have thought out their plans and that they are feasible. He is also known for being incredibly careful about safety and makes sure that everybody is doing their job in a safe manner. Mr. Kunz is a true embodiment of FIRST values and is a crucial part of our team.
