Mr. Marty Kanner is an integral part of the POBots. For the past 8 years, he has volunteered his time to our team. His vast work experience and engineering knowledge makes him a wonderful teacher. He truly inspires our students, and is inspired himself “when he sees young students applying the same skills in high school that he learned in Graduate School.”Marty graduated from NYU with dual Bachelor’s Degrees in Aeronautics and Electronics, and later earned a Master’s in Electrical Engineering. He worked in numerous companies on Long Island such as Fairchild Camera Instruments, Grumman, AIL, Hazeltine and Seaboard Electronics. He is an inventor with three patents, and the author of over a dozen technical articles. Marty “officially” retired in 1998, but is busier now than ever. His contribution to the POBots has been invaluable, and at 81, it doesn’t look like he is slowing down at all!Marty’s philosophy is to encourage self-discovery. He refuses to give the students “the answers,” rather he insists on giving them “the knowledge” to figure it out themselves…and they do!.
