STEAM SUNDAYS
Welcome to our new Community Service Initiative...
Episode 1: Taking a Deep Dive with AMSEAS
The POBots sit down with Robert A. DiGiovanni, Jr., Founder and Chief Scientist at the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society (AMSEAS), for an in-depth conversation about ocean pollution, sustainability, and the role of engineering in tackling these challenges. The POBots have previously partnered with AMSEAS to participate in several beach cleanups at Lido Beach and Point Lookout Beach, and we’re incredibly thankful for the opportunity to reconnect and continue supporting this important cause.
Episode 2: STEM in Healthcare
The POBots sit down with Dr. Lauren Heckelman, Lecturer in the Discipline of Biomedical Engineering at Columbia University, for an in-depth conversation about healthcare, medicine, and the impact of bioengineering. The POBots are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to speak with someone who possesses such insightful expertise and a high level of knowledge in STEM!
Episode 3: What's Elastic?
The POBots sit down with Nadav-Marcus Neumann, a POBots Alum who created Elastic, an innovative FRC programming dashboard that was added to official WPILIB documentation and has been spread to every FRC team in the world. New insights, ideas, and kid-friendly topics are discussed!
Episode 4: FLL and More!
The POBots, Team 353, sit down with Mrs. Patanjo, the advisor for FLL Team #15261, The Rockin’ Robos, for an inspiring conversation about the lasting impact FLL has—not only on the kids, but also on her journey as a mentor. The POBots are especially excited to chat with Mrs. Patanjo, as she was one of the first people to encourage them to pursue robotics. Best of luck to The Rockin’ Robos at their upcoming competition, were rooting for you!
Episode 5: Engineering Reality
The POBots of Team 353 sit down with Richard Humann, President and CEO of H2M Architects + Engineers, for an insightful conversation about the journey of a Mechanical Engineer and the path from intern to CEO of an engineering consulting firm. The POBots are honored to discuss the current and future landscape of engineering with Mr. Humann, especially as many of us are considering pursuing engineering careers beyond high school. Once again, we want to express our gratitude to Mr. Humann for inspiring us with his expertise and giving us a true glimpse into what it’s like to be an engineer.
